Geek Estate Blog: Q&A With Seth Siegler about the Redesign of his ShopCharlestonRealEstate.com Web Site

"Basically I found that people do not want to talk to a Realtor until it’s time to see a house in person."

Fantastic. That's something that far too many search sites ignore.

I think that the sole purpose of a website and/or website redesign is for pure lead generation and conversion into successful closings. My website is a template site (www.point2agent.com) and has done very well in the search engines. It's very search engine friendly, and I've been on page one of Google for three years now for Cedar Rapids Real Estate. I've gone with a vendor for my IDX solution and require registration only after a customer fills out search criteria and wants to view or save any specific properties. I think this was mentioned in the blog, but tons of content are necessary to keep visitors "engaged" and on your site so that they eventually trust it to make it their "favorite" site for XXXXXX Real Estate.

    It looks nice...

I'm not a fan of a black background with white text. But beyond that I will not critique the styling.

What I will critique is that you DESPERATELY need to upgrade your wordpress installation. It is seriously out of date and might even have some security holes that could open you up to a world of hurt. Now it's possible that you might have fixed the security problems but I don't know if you have or not. Either way I wouldn't take the risk and upgrade it asap.

The only thing I would change is to NOT iframe the blog into the site. I would instead just have the link open up the blog.
